Hi, this is Taylor and Katelyn.

We are writing to you in hopes that you can help us to extend and spread the word about our message, our goal, and our dream. This dream is for one day in the near future for ALL Americans to have equal rights. Those within, who support, and who are close to anyone associated with the LGBT community understand the inequality faced within our country. Our hope is to change this, and we CAN’T do this on our own. We need the help and support of as many as possible. This is where we encourage you to help us.

As American citizens we have certain unalienable rights. Our Declaration of Independence states that those rights include Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Liberty means, The state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on ones way of life. I think it is plain to see the LGBT community is clearly lacking one of our unalienable rights our forefathers believed we were endowed by our creator.

So now time to tell you about our plan! Katelyn and I believe it is time for us to make change if we want it. This is where you come into play. We are contacting a major university in each of the fifty states. We are specifically reaching out their Gay-Strait Alliance. We are asking each member of your Gay-Strait Alliance to write a letter to one of your own state senators (Nebraska: Ben Nelson and Mike Johanns). Address your grievances, what you want to change, and why you believe this change is beneficial to yourself and the American people.

This however is NOT hate mail. We are not going to break down any barriers or through to anyone if we use a hateful approach. Even our senators defenses will immediately go up. Katelyn and I believe in a peaceful approach to bring about a nonviolent change within our country.

After writing these letters please send them to our P.O. Box address. We will be collecting the letters and separating them by state. They will be addressed to your specific senator and all sent on a specific set date. If we receive only one hundred letters from each state, congress will be hit with 5,000 letters at once. If we could get two hundred we then have 10,000. So you see there is power in numbers. We ask that you please put your signature at the bottom of your letter. The signatures are important.

Katelyn and I believe you will understand the change we hope to have happen, and that you will support our cause. Now we encourage you to spread the word. Pass out our address to your friends and family who you believe would gladly help this cause. We also have a facebook page where you can find our address and our updates on our plans and progress.

A Note from United In Pride Heartland Pride

Greetings! 2012 Candlelight Vigil. Omaha-Council Bluffs Gay Lesbian Bi-Sexual, Transgender and allies gather to remember those lost to HIV/AIDS as well as those currently and historically affected by hate, bigotry and bullying. We ask the community gather at 8pm near the stage at Stinson Park (Aksarben Village 67th and Center St.) At 830pm the short program will begin with opening prayer and blessing the ground where we will celebrate Pride on June 30th by the Rev. Susan Ellis from Northside Christian Church, words from community activist and author Ruth Marimo, community activist and GSA student Caitlin Slagle, words from Heartland Pride President Beth Rigatuso are among some of those whom will be a part of this vigil. There will be free candles to the first 100! This event is free and open to the public.

OmniArts nebraska, a new, 501(c)3 non-profit (pending) arts production company proudly announces the world premiere debut of its Season One production.Understanding K & the Red Balloon will premiere at the Lied Center’s Johnny Carson Theatre July 19 through July 21. 

Featuring completely original text, a never before heard musical score, in-house choreography and abundant visual and media art, Understanding K & the Red Balloon engages audiences to observe and experience the needs, hopes, and dreams of its members.

Understanding K is an original theatrical piece based on community workshops with children, and is created to shed light on their wisdom, dreams, fears, and desires. With a book and lyrics by OmniArts nebraska co-founders Daniel Kubert and Dustin Witte, Understanding K also features an original musical score by Dan Beard and Laurie Martinez, and performances by an ensemble cast of artists. Understanding K will introduce audiences to eleven fictional characters at various ages and throughout their lives as they share stories we should know, but probably don’t, thereby giving voice to their unique, yet universal perspective in an innovative and moving way.

Please be advised that while Understanding K is a work of fiction, it has been created from stories and creative responses collected from workshops and interviews with people from ages 3-50+, including approximately seventy-five fifth grade students. Much of the language is used verbatim, as it has been taken directly from statements, stories and impressions that these young people shared.

While some of the subject matter and language may be difficult and uncomfortable to face, they are also issues and language that our children are presented with daily. 

the Red Balloon [sic] is an original movement piece inspired by the 1956 Albert Lamorisse film, The Red Balloon. Created and choreographed by Daniel Kubert, the production features a score by Ed Love, as well as a professional performers and community members whose ages span more than five decades.  This whimsical movement piece is dedicated to the dreams which swept us away as children; the dreams we hope may someday sweep us away again.  

Understanding K & the Red Balloon will be presented July 19, 20 at 7:30pm and July 21 at 2:00pm and 7:30 pm, at the Johnny Carson Theatre, at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.  The opening night performance will be a benefit for the Peoples City Mission, and other youth organizations.  For tickets, call 402-472-4747, $15 for General Admission, $12 for students and seniors, plus fees.  For more information on OmniArts nebraska, please visit www.omniartsnebraska.org or contact them atinfo@omniartsnebraska.org.

Undergraduate Business Conference

To whom it may concern,

My name is Greg Watson and I am a current student at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. I am also a Campus Ambassador for the Out for Undergraduate Business Conference. As the conference enters into its 9th annual gathering we strive to reach out to schools that are not represented at the conference. As a Campus Ambassador for OUBC my goal is to attract top LGBTQ talent, not only from IU, but from all over the country to the conference. After speaking to the School of Business's career services center, they referred me to your office. I was hoping that I could reach out to you in attempt to reach  LGBTQ students at your school. The Out for Undergraduate Business Conference is a conference meant for students interested in careers in business and entails everything from networking opportunities to employee panels from top firms.  The website for the conference is www.outforbusiness.com. If you could pass this message along to any body that you think would be interested or if you have any further questions, I would be happy to speak with them via e-mail or phone if they had any further questions. [BiNet USA] SPECIAL BI MEN'S ISSUE: Call for Submissions

When introducing /Bi Women/, I am frequently asked whether there is a parallel publication for bi men. Sadly, there is not. To help remedy this, I have decided to put out a _*special men's issue*_ of /Bi Women/.
This will be in addition to the regular quarterly issues of /Bi Women/.

_*If you identify as a bi or pansexual man, I hope you will consider submitting your work. *_

You are welcome to submit essays, fiction, images, cartoons, poetry, or any combination of these. This publication will be electronic and available online, so there are no fixed word limits. However, suggested length for submissions is 500-1500 words.

You can write about anything you want, as long as it is somehow related to bisexual identity. Suggested topics include: why you identify as bi; where you find support and/or community; how your experience of identity is shaped by other aspects of your identity (race, ethnicity, class, geography, religion, age, gender identity, etc.); stories about falling in (or out of) love or about relationships; when and how you came out to yourself; when and how you choose to come out to others; being a bi-identified man in straight communities; being a bi-identified man in LGBT communities. I'm also hoping to include a few resource lists. If you are interested in working on one of these, please let me know right away. Some ideas: bi men's fiction, bi men's nonfiction, bi men's website; websites (bi or not) of particular interest to bi men.

I am hoping that the final project include a diverse range of voices and perspectives. If you feel that you rarely see people like yourself represented, please consider writing for this issue.

Submissions are due by August 1st, but it would be very helpful to get a sense now of your intentions.
